The Junior Development Program consists of 2 major components.

The first component the Juniors compete in are the running competitions year-round split into 2 seasons Winter and Summer. The Winter season consists of 6-8 local competitions competing against other local brigades. The competition is a Dry event in the track has no live water running through the hoses.
The Summer competition is run mainly down South East Victoria from Koo Wee Rup all the way to Maffra. There are approximately 6-8 competitions that we attend. This competition consists of both a Dry Track and a Wet track. The Wet track is where there is water running through the hoses.
The Summer competitions finishes with a big finally at the Junior State Championships held each year in February. Here the Juniors compete against all junior brigades from the State of Victoria and a couple who make the big journey from other states. The last few years have seen The Basin come first in one of our races and have several placings at state level.

The second major component is the Juniors learn general firefighting skills.
The winter training sessions are divided into 2 with competition running training one half and the other learning basic firefighting skills including accredited first aid course. The firefighting training is put into practice once a year when the Juniors travel down to the CFA Bangholme Training Complex and get to practice in real fire situations.

Our training sessions are on Mondays 5pm to 6:30pm during winter and summer is 5pm till 7pm. Winter comps are held on Sunday mornings 8:30-11am (approx.) and summer comps are generally on Saturday mornings 830-1pm
We currently train at the fire station at The Knox Krack (Bunjil way, Knoxfield). Feel free to drop down and see the training in action and talk to our Junior Leaders.
